It is good that you have chosen to be married in a church with the benefits of God’s promises and blessings.
It is our intention to assist you in your wedding and marriage planning we will lead the wedding celebration so that your marriage may be joyous and blessed.
While membership at Lord of Life Lutheran Church is not a requirement for marriage in this church, it is certainly important that you have both an understanding of and an acceptance of marriage as the Church teaches it. Therefore, before you discuss the matter of marriage with Pastor, it is advisable that you attend Lord of Life to ascertain if this is the community of faith in which you would be comfortable celebrating your wedding event and perhaps your future life together.
Rehearsal is required, as this will ensure a relaxed atmosphere for all participants on the day of the wedding. The rehearsal is usually scheduled one or two evenings before the wedding. Every effort should be made to have the entire wedding party present and should include both the ushers and the parents of the bride and groom. Rehearsal time is approximately one-half hour. Pastor will coordinate the procedures.
Planning the music for your wedding is important. Since your wedding ceremony is also a worship service, the music must be suitable for worship. All music must be approved by Pastor.
The concerns mentioned in our “Statement of Marriage” are of far more importance than the financial ones. Lord of Life Lutheran Church does not “sell” wedding services, and it does not “rent” facilities for wedding events. However, there are financial obligations to be assumed by any couple desiring a wedding in Lord of Life Lutheran Church. The church secretary can furnish you with a list of fees. Payment for these services should be made to the church prior to the date reserved.
Pastor considers all pastoral acts as an integral part of the Pastoral office and ministry of Lord of Life Lutheran Church. Therefore a set fee is not levied. Any gift in appreciation of his service is left up to the discretion of the bridal couple.
Note: If there is serious financial need, please make it known to the Pastor in order that special arrangements for financial obligations can be made.
The Christian wedding ceremony is a service of worship before God and normally is conducted in the Church Sanctuary. Reverence shall be expected on the part of all present. The service shall be under the direction of Pastor who looks forward to having premarital conferences with those who are to be married in the church. The Prepare Premarital assessment is used and six to eight premarital conferences are usually scheduled. During this time, the privileges and responsibilities of marriage, as well as the wedding ceremony itself, are discussed. Variations of the traditional ceremony may be permitted as long as they are consistent with the Church’s understanding of the wedding service.
Wedding receptions in the Fellowship Hall may be arranged with the church secretary.
