Ministries and Missions

Key to the life of a congregation is its service (ministry) to God and to people. Below is a listing of various areas of ministry we have at Lord of Life and missions we support.

Adult Bible Studies
Sunday Morning -- Pastor Linkugel leads this discussion group style Bible study.  Topics range from current events to individual books of the Bible.
Ladies Wednesday Evening -This small group Bible study, hosted by Frances Reige, meets on the second Wednesday of the month and focuses on topics of interest to women.
Friday Lunch -- Seniors' group meets for lunch, fellowship and study beginning at noon every Friday at Old Country Buffet.

Christian Education
We offer Christian education for all ages from 3 years old through adults from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. each Sunday. Ages 3 through 5th grade meet as the Sunday School. The Junior High and Senior High Youth meet for Bible Study. The adults meet for a discussion of a book of the Bible or topics relevant to Christian faith.

COPE (Christian Outreach Program--Elkhorn) This ministry is a joint effort by a group of Elkhorn churches to provide for the physical and spiritual needs of low income families in the Elkhorn area.  Many kinds of assistance are available, including help with clothing, food, housing and job location.

Confirmation Instruction The 7th and 8th grade youth prepare to live their faith and grow in knowledge and understanding of the Word of God by meeting on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with Pastor David Linkugel to learn what God's Word says and to apply the Word to their lives.

Cross and Faith Stories  Everyone is encouraged to carry a small cross in their pocket and share the cross and their faith in their daily lives. At the end of the worship services, the opportunity is given to share how God has used you through sharing a cross or your faith to touch the life of another person.

Fellowship Activities  Throughout the year the members of the congregation to get together for fun and food to develop and strengthen relationships with each other.

Missionary Support Lord of Life provides prayer and financial support to Pastor Larry, Mary and Kristi Steckling in Kazakhstan, Pastor Claude and Rhoda Houge in Ghana, and Pastor Tim, Beth, Jonathan, Joel, Katie and Andrea Heiney in Guinea.

Music Ministries
Adult Choir: High school and adults join their voices to sing praises to the Lord and enrich our worship services once a month. The adult choir practices on Wednesdays.  Rebecca Fegan directs this lively choir.
Men's Choir: At various times during the year, men of the congregation, form a men's choir to sing for the worship services.
Youth Choir: Youth in Grades 4 through 8 learn fun, contemporary music.  They share their voices and their message in worship once a month.
Sunday School Music: All of the children in Sunday School from ages 3 through 5th grade learn a song during the Sunday School opening each Sunday. The Sunday School children sing at the beginning of the 10:30 service once a month. Robyn Gregory directs the children.

Prayer Chain Our prayer warriors are ready to help when you need prayer support.

Vacation Bible School For one week in June, Lord of Life offers fun, games, crafts and Christian education to the children of the community.

Women's Ministries The Women's Ministries is associated with the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The women meet each month for Bible study and service projects.

Youth Ministry T.R.U.T.H. (Teens Reaching Up To Him) is the name of our youth ministry for youth in middle school and high school. The youth meet twice a month for Bible study, service projects to the community and fun activities.
